For the on-the-go viewers who prefer their entertainment at their fingertips, Jio offers the first package at just Rs 1,099 ($13.23). On the other hand, for those who crave the larger-than-life experience of watching on big screens, the second package at Rs 1,499 opens the door to a basic Netflix package on large screens.

This bold move by Jio follows the footsteps of its counterparts, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea, which offer access to Disney+ Hotstar through prepaid bundled plans. Tony Zameczkowski, Vice President of APAC Partnerships for Netflix, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating that it would bring more viewers closer to an exciting lineup of Indian and international stories.

Disney+ Hotstar, which commanded a substantial 38% viewership share between January 2022 and March 2023, has also taken measures to curb password sharing, indicating the industry’s evolving landscape.

With India’s streaming market projected to reach a staggering $7 billion (Rs 58,220.85 crore) by 2027, popular platforms like Disney, Netflix, Amazon, and JioCinema are set to play pivotal roles in shaping the industry’s future.
